摘要: | With advances in information and communication technology, blended learning has become an effective approach for highlighting disciplinary effects and accommodating student population diversity. Faculty members in business schools have developed an understanding of design approaches that have evolved and selected appropriate designs for blended courses.This study combines the approaches of blended and team-based learning to support a management course. This study involved 197 undergraduate business students from two Taiwanese universities. Their perceptions of the course were elicited through survey questions. Subsequent quantitative analysis has revealed the relationships among learners’ perceived enjoyment, knowledge sharing, team effectiveness, and perceived individual learning. This study documents education benefits, pedagogical implications, and research limitations in applying this approach to business education. Those points are developed along with recommendations regarding future research directions |

摘要: | This study aimed to examine the impact of an online writing
system (OWS) providing individualized corrective feedback
(CF) on learners’ self-correction of grammatical errors (GE).
It consisted of two phases: the pilot and the formal phases.
Four EFL (English as a Foreign Language) Taiwanese university
students participated in the study at the pilot phase
and 22 at the formal phase. An OWS was developed to
provide individualized CF in text modes. The data was collected
from learners’ four written works, their interview transcriptions,
and the teacher’s observation at the pilot phase,
and from learners’ pre- and post-written works, three online
works, and a questionnaire at the formal phase. The findings
of the study showed that individualized CF provided by the
system seemed more beneficial to self-correction of GE for
those learners at a higher proficiency level. They applied
feedback to self-correction and problem-solving, which
enhanced their autonomy development. By contrast, the
system seemed less beneficial to lower-level learners’
self-correction of GE. In addition, individualized CF seemed
to be most beneficial to subject-verb agreement error
self-correction, and least beneficial to verb tense correction.
Different feedback types and provision modes should be
considered when using the developed system to deliver
corrective feedback. |

摘要: | The development of new media technology facilitates interaction between people of different cultures. However, people from different cultures show different cross-cultural communication behaviors that may influence their communication efficiency, perceived communication experiences, and perceived social presence. This study aimed to explore Taiwanese students’ communication behaviors and their perceived social presence in online cross-cultural communication. 19 English-major students participated in a 10-week online cultural communication exchange with students from Japan and Colombia. The data were collected from their online interaction postings, an after-study survey, and the teacher’s observation journal. Content analysis of the postings and the teacher’s observation journal were utilized to identify their online communicative behaviors. Moreover, the survey data were analyzed to examine their perceived social presence. Finally, the results of the questionnaire and interaction data were compared to identify the types of communicative behaviors favorable to social presence development. The results suggested that the Taiwanese students in this study had similar communicative behaviors and shared some with the communicators from some low-context cultures. The more types of communicative behaviors they used in online cross-cultural communication, the better they perceived social presence. Some types of communicative behaviors (e.g., using emoticons or expression symbols, using more expression types, self-disclosing more) seemed to benefit more their social presence development than others. |

摘要: | The development of new media technology increases interaction possibilities among people of different cultures. However, people of different cultures have different communication styles in cross-cultural communication. Those styles may influence the efficiency of their mutual communication. This study aimed to explore how Taiwanese students communicate with students of other cultures and how their communication behaviors influenced their perception of online communication.
The proposed study included 19 Taiwanese English-major students from a Taiwanese university. They participated in a 10-week online cultural communication exchange with students from Japan and Colombia. The data was collected from the students’ online interaction postings and via an after-study survey. Content analysis was used to identify the Taiwanese students’ online communication behaviors and to examine how those behaviors influenced their perception of communication with the students from the other two countries. The findings of the study will be reported in the presentation. |

摘要: | This study examines the factors influencing primary English learners’ literacy skills teaching and
learning through distance modes. It includes two teaching and learning (TL) situations. In the first TL
situation, 28 English-major students deliver English lessons to 18 sixth-graders of one Taiwanese
primary school through Skype. In the second TL situation, 37 English-major students observe their
colleagues’ teaching on site and the primary children’ learning through Skype. The data of the study is
collected from the researcher’s class observation, the teaching demonstration video recordings, the
university students’ observation and reflection records, and the primary children’s journal writing. The
findings of the study will be reported in this presentation. |
