摘要:In this paper, a potentiostat designed and implemented by field programmable gate array (FPGA) is proposed for electrochemical biosensors. Taking advantage of the FPGA, whose circuit modules can be concurrent executed in parallel, the proposed potentioatat’s performance designed by FPGA can be more efficient than any other potentioatat’s performance designed by microprocessor. This feature of FPGA is very important for the implanted application, i.e., Dopamine scan for Parkinson’s disease, because it needs high speed signal scan and high speed current easurement. The proposed potentiostat can perform four common electrochemical analysis methods: liner sweep voltammantry (LSV), differential pulse voltammantry (DPV), square pulse voltammantry (SPV), and cyclic voltammantry (CV). In the proposed potentiostat, there are five circuit blocks: an FPGA, two operational amplifiers, a 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), an auto-range current to voltage converter, and a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The FPGA is used to control DAC and ADC, and to select the proper resistor of autorange current to voltage converter. The perational amplifier is used to form the negative feedback of the biosensor. The DAC is used to generate the stimulate signal for the biosensor. The auto-range current to voltage converter is used to transfer the current of the biosensor to the voltage. The ADC is used to measure the voltage of the biosensor. The measured results are transmitted to PC by FPGA. While the experiment is proceeding, the real time experimental results can be observed by LabVIEW on computer immediately. In system verification, the proposed potentiostat is used to perform the CV on three different concentrations of ferricyanide solutions using screen-printed electrodes. Meanwhile, the experimental results are made comparison with the commercial potentiostat’s. Our experimental results show that the proposed potentiostat has the merits of high-speed operation, low cost, and low power consumption.

摘要:本論文使用二極式印刷電極來設計一個氯離子濃度感測器,該感測器可應用於水中氯離子濃度檢測,以評估純水之品質、評估廢水中之溶解礦物質濃度、預估水進行化學分析時之樣品使用量、及檢核化學分析結果之正確性。本論文所提出之氯離子濃度感測器設計是採用可程式化邏輯閘陣列(FPGA)、電荷轉移電路、以及類比數位轉換電路(ADC)來開發完成。 在檢測過程中,我們分兩個週期時間完成。首先,將可程式化邏輯閘陣列(FPGA) 所產生100Hz 的方波信號,施加在感測試片,然後將待量測之樣品滴在試片上,待試片產生反應電流,將此反應電流經由電荷轉移電路輸出成反應電壓,再經由類比數位轉換電路測量此電壓並傳回FPGA,FPGA 則會分析出不同氯離子濃度之反應電壓,來設定第二個量測週期所需要的延遲時間。接著,ADC 會等待所設定的延遲時間以進行第二次峰值電壓量測,而所量測之峰值電壓即代表不同氯離子濃度之結果將經由FPGA 傳到Labview。 在系統驗證上,我們採用已知氯離子濃度之標準溶液 (分別為0.1 M、0.01 M、0.001 M 氯化鉀溶液),對於所設計之氯離子濃度感測系統進行測試,將所測試之結果建立出氯離子濃度感測器之校正曲線。根據此系統校正曲線,我們取樣自一般海水、港口海水、魚塭水、灌溉水、工廠水溝水及自來水以進行分析檢測,就可以推算出檢測樣品之氯離 子濃度。實驗結果顯示本文所提出之氯離子濃度感測器具有檢測速度快、操作簡便、與高準確度等特點。

摘要:本文提出一個可更換電極試片的免校正鹽度計,該鹽度計之感測器是使用雙極式網板印刷電極試片,此鹽度計系統主要用於檢測含鹽成份之物質鹽度,可應用於檢測食品中所含有的鹽度,以及評估海水養殖的鹽度是否符合標準值。 在設計上,此系統乃使用EFM32 微處理器做為中央控制元件,檢測過程分兩個步驟進行,首先,透過EFM32 中的數位類比轉換器 (DAC)輸出一個3.3V100Hz 方波訊號對感測器試片上的含鹽樣品進行掃描,並透過轉換電路將樣品所產生的反應電流轉換成擁有尖端脈衝波的反應電壓,在經由EFM32 中的類比數位轉換器(ADC)在100s 時,量測此反應電壓並回傳EFM32,而EFM32 會依照不同鹽度所產生的不同反應電壓來設定第二次量測所需要的延遲時間,接著在第二次量測中,ADC 會先延遲所設定的延遲時間後才開始量測,此時量測的結果即為峰值電壓,接著,藉由EFM32 中的通用非同步收發傳輸器 (UART) 連接藍芽模組傳送此尖端峰值電壓給行動裝置,並由行動裝置裡的APP 顯示出計算後得到的電壓與鹽度。 在系統驗證上,我們使用自行調配的鹽水做為標準液,並使用本鹽度計進行量測,依所量測結果建立此系統之校正曲線。此外,我們將鹽度計針對不同樣品的量測結果,與市售鹽度計所測的不同樣品量測結果進行比對驗證。實驗結果顯 示本文所提出的鹽度計系統具有感測器易於更換、遠端操控、免校正、體積小、及低成本的特點。

摘要:本論文使用可規劃邏輯陣列(FPGA)設計一個可應用於鋰離子電池開發之恆電流儀。文中所設計的鋰離子電池恆電流儀可以設定不同大小的電流進行充放電:0.2C、0.5C 充放電電流。所提出之恆電流儀是由一個FPGA、三個運算放大器OPA)、一個12bit 的數位類比轉換器(DAC)、一個12bit 的類比數位轉換器(ADC) 、一個差動放大器電路及充放電電路、一個RELAY、一組110V 轉12V 變壓器、兩組npn 型BJT 以及兩組pnp 型BJT 所組成。其中FPGA 是用來控制DAC、ADC、以及RELAY 的電阻選擇,DAC 是用來產生差動放大電路所需要的激發信號,此定電流將透過運算放大器之回授電路流經電池,進行充電或是放電,鋰離子電池電壓則透過ADC 進行量測用以監測電池之狀態,此電池電壓將經由FPGA 傳送到個人電腦,並將充放電狀況呈現在LABVIEW。 在系統驗證方面,本恆電流儀將使用兩種不同的電流,對三種不同容量的鋰離子電池進行定電流充放電,並將結果與商業儀器測試數據進行比較,實驗結果顯示,所提出的量測數據與商業儀器的量測數據有相同的趨勢。

著作名稱:An Improved Stopband Dual-Band Filter Using Quad-Mode Stub-Loaded Resonators

摘要:: In this paper, we present a dual-band microstrip bandpass filter (BPF) with an improved stopband, which was constructed by a quad-mode stub-loaded resonator (SLR). Since the SLR is able to produce multiresonance within a single unit, the area saving is significant. The proposed quad-mode SLR was implemented by two stubs allocated at symmetry places, thus the even-/oddmode can be applied to analysis the resonance. Moreover, to shift the spurious passband, the step impedance structure was applied to shift the harmonic resonance to the higher frequency. Design procedure for high performance dual-band BPF is proposed, and filter examples were designed for wireless local area network (WLAN) of 2.4/5.2 GHz. The measured insertion losses, return losses and fractional bandwidths (FBW) are 1.43 dB, 10 dB, and 14.8% at 2.4 GHz and 1.34 dB, 10 dB, and 12.9% at 5.2 GHz. Moreover, by applying two quarter-wavelength stubs on the input/output ports, the passband selectivity with an isolation of 40 dB can be achieved. The simulation and measurement have a close match, verifying the design concept.

摘要:Changing demographics, the rise of personalized medicine and increased identification of biomarkers for diagnosis and management of chronic disease have increased the demand for portable bioanalytical instrumentation and point-of-care. The recent development of molecularly imprinted polymers enables production of low cost and highly stable sensing chips; however, the commercially available and full functional instruments employed for electrochemical analysis have shortcomings in actual homecare applications. In this work, integrated circuits (ICs) for monolithic implementation of voltammeter potentiostat with a large dynamic current range (5 nA to 1.2 mA) and short conversion time (10 ms) were fabricated in a 0.35 μm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process. The new instrumentation was tested with molecular imprinted sensors for 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid (3HAA) in urine. The sensor consisted of molecular imprinted of poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol)s (abbreviated as EVALs) for implementation in a flow injection analysis system. The EVAL containing 32 ethylene mol% had the highest imprinting effectiveness for the target molecules. Fit-for-purpose figures of merit were achieved with a limit-of-detection (LOD) of 3.06 pg/mL. The measurements obtained in real undiluted urine samples fell within the reference concentration range of 50–550 ng/mL.

摘要:In this paper, we design a voltammetry potentiostat chip with wide range current measurement for the signal processing of electrochemical biosensors. In this design, the current of biosensors will be detected and divided into four regions, and then be diminished in accordance with corresponding current scaling ratio. All the ranges of the biosensor’s current will be diminished to a proper current range (?2.5 μA) and then be converted into frequency-modulated pulses by a sigma–delta modulator in a fixed conversion time. The aim of this design is to deal with the large dynamic current range of signal processing for different biosensors in applications. The measured results of proposed potentiostat can be digitized by a microprocessor without using a high resolution ADC. The proposed potentiostat is fabricated by 0.35 μm CMOS technology, and the chip layout core area is 0.31 mm2. The function of the proposed potentiostat has been tested and measured in our laboratory, and the measurement results show that the dynamic range of signal processing, from 1 nA to 2 mA, is 126 dB. The power consumption under normal operation is 10 mW. The proposed voltammetry potentiostat has successfully applied to the signal processing system of a melatonin biosensor.

摘要:This paper proposes a 3rd-order low-distortion delta-sigma modulator (DSM). The 3rd-order noise shaping is achieved by a single opamp (excluding the quantizer). In the proposed DSM structure, the timing limitation on the quantizer and dynamic element matching (DEM) logic in a conventional low-distortion structure can be relaxed from a non-overlapping interval to half of the clock period. A cyclic analog-to-digital converter with a loading-free technique is utilized as a quantizer, which shares an opamp with the active adder. The signal transfer function (STF) is preserved as unity, which means that the integrators process only the quantization noise component. As a result, the opamp used for the integrators has lower requirements, as low-distortion DSMs, on slew rate, output swing, and power consumption. The proposed 3rd-order DSM with a 4-bit cyclic-type quantizer is implemented in a 90-nm CMOS process. Under a sampling rate of 80 MHz and oversampling ratio of 16, simulation results show that an 81.97-dB signal-to-noise and distortion ratio and an 80-dB dynamic range are achieved with 4.17-mW total power consumption. The resulting figure of merit (FOM) is 81.5 fJ/conversion-step.

摘要:Abstract—In this paper, an ultra-wideband bandpass filter was accomplished. The proposed filter is constructed by using a coupled three line microstrip structure and a stepped-impedance open stub (SIOS), connected at the symmetrical plane of the filter to increase the passband selectivity. The measured result shows the centered frequency of the passband at 3.97GHz with low insertion loss of 0.48 dB and wide 3-dB fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 45.3% from 3.1GHz to 4.9GHz. Two transmission zeros are obtained near the passband at 2.72GHz and 5.71GHz with good rejection level of 50.3 dB and 60.5 dB, respectively. The measured results of the fabricated ultra-wideband bandpass filter also show a good agreement with the simulated ones.

摘要:Abstract—In this paper, a wide-stopband bandpass filter is presented. The proposed filter only used two stepped-impedance resonators (SIRs) with a simple electric-coupling structure to accomplish a widestopband response. The passband of the proposed filter is designed for global system for mobile communications (GSM) at 1.8 GHz. The spurious responses of the SIRs are suppressed by controlling the locations of the transmission zeros effectively. The measured results show the passband at 1.8 GHz with a low insertion loss 1.18 dB, and the 3 dB fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 14.1%. The rejection of the stopband is greater than 14 dB from 2.1 to 17.7GHz, a stopband bandwidth of 9.8 times of the fundamental frequency. The measured result of the fabricated filter also shows a good agreement with the simulated result.

摘要:Neopterin is a catabolic product of guanosine triphosphate, a purine nucleotide. Measuring neopterin concentrations in biological fluids such as urine provides information about cellular immune activation in humans under control of T helper cells. A high neopterin concentration in bodily fluids, including serum and urine, indicates cellular immunity activation, which is associated with oxidative stress. In this work, neopterin is the target molecule and imprinted onto poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) via solvent evaporation. The template molecules on the thin film are then removed, and the membrane is used as a sensing element for electrochemical urinalysis. Poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) containing 27 mol% ethylene had high imprinting effectiveness and may be integrated with the proposed portable biosensor. In random urine analysis, the cyclic voltammetry measurements of neopterin with an additional recovery method achieved >95% recovery for the neopterin concentration of 15 ng/mL.

摘要:The U.S. Food and Drug Administration allows a maximum of 72 mg of caffeine per 12 oz. serving (6 mg/oz). Consuming 400 mg of caffeine 3 times daily for 7 days may develop sleep disruption effects. However, it is still very hard for people to estimate how much caffeine is intake daily. Moreover, (-)epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is studied a potent antioxidant that may have therapeutic properties for anti-aging and cancer. Conventionally, both caffeine and EGCG could be measured by the protocols of high performance liquid chromatography; however, high precision instruments are required. In this work, the caffeine and EGCG are used as the template molecules and imprinted into poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol), EVAL, via solvent evaporation. The EVAL membrane is then used as the sensing element for electrochemical analysis after templates removal. From the cyclic voltammetry measurement of the caffeine, the peak oxidation potential is shifted from 0.36 to 0.46 V when the final concentration of caffeine is from 0.01 to 1 mg/mL, and the highest current density is about 0.18 μA/cm2. The caffeine and EGCG concentrations measured in three real samples are about 0.10-0.13 mg/mL and 0.49-1.74 mg/mL, respectively. This molecularly imprinted polymeric coated electrode is potential employed as a home-care system.

摘要:In this paper, a wireless continuous acid-base detection system for aquaculture is proposed to detect the pH value of aquaculture’s water in the center position, by means of infrared remote-control vessel and Bluetooth wireless transmission. In the proposed system, we adopt the Silicon Labs EFM32 microprocessor to act as system control unit. This microprocessor will detect the voltage generated by the UltraE pH strip and transmit it to the Bluetooth module. Then, the Bluetooth module will transmit the measured pH value to the computer on the shore. Taking advantage of the LabView user interface for making a real-time pH plot, the computer will show the pH results. Moreover, we design an infrared remote-control vessel to place the proposed system for the pH value of aquaculture’s water in the center position detection, while the vessel is moving. In system verification, we adopt the commercial acid-base detector, the UltraE pH strip, and the proposed system to detect the pH value of different concentration solution for verification. Experimental results show that the proposed system has the same trend as the commercial acid-base detector. In conclusion, the proposed system can directly detect the pH value of aquaculture’s water in the expected position, by moving an infrared remote-control vessel to the desired place, without the need of actual sampling.

摘要:In this paper, an electrochemical biosensor signal processing system for uric acid detection platform is proposed to detect the pH value of urine. In the proposed platform, the measured urine is dropped on a pH sensor strip, and the strip will generate a voltage value corresponding to the measured urine pH value. Then, the voltage will be transmitted to the phone in wireless after measured by the proposed signal processing system. Finally, the pH value of the measured urine will be shown on the phone and be recorded in the cloud. In the system design, the EMF32 chip is used as the control unit, the UltraE pH strip is used for urine pH measurement, the Bluetooth module is used to perform the wireless data transmission, and the phone is used to show the measured results. In the system verification, we use the UltraE pH strip to measure a set of different pH standard solution to establish a calibration curve. Based on the calibration curve, the proposed system can perform the urine pH measurement. In comparison with the results measured by the commercial acid-base detector, the proposed system has the advantages of high speed, small size, simple operation, and easy portability.

摘要:本論文設計一個循環伏安式電化學分析儀作為電化學mRFP生物感測器之信號處理,此mRFP生物感測器是由台南大學生物科技系所開發,用以檢測食物溶液中是否具有毒性物質,所提出之電化學分析儀是利用嵌入式系統開發完成,以跨領域合作方式進行生醫感測器研究並利用嵌入式系統(EFM32微處理器)開發完成,並採用循環伏安法來分析溶液之檢體濃度變化。 在實驗中透過微處理機EFM32輸出固定頻率的掃描訊號掃描待測物,觀測電流電壓圖並進行大範圍、高精度的分析。透過電流傳導的情況,可以利用Labview檢測待測物的各項參數並推測其性質。例如透過毒物檢測感測器來判斷檢測液中是否有具有毒性,並可進一步建立大數據資料庫。 在系統驗證方面,我們的分析儀中的mRFP生物感測器針對不同濃度待測物的量測,系統對於感測器所量測到的電流變化進行分析,並與商用的分析儀所量測之結果進行比對,驗證本系統之特性。從實驗結果顯示,利用電化學方法來進行食物溶液中是否具有毒性物質之檢測,所需要之分析時間可以在幾秒中之內完成。

摘要:In this paper, we design and implement a portable potentiostat by using dual-microprocessors for the signal processing of electrochemical biosensors. In our design approach, one of the microprocessors is used to design the programmable waveform generator, and the other microprocessor is used to measure the current of biosensors. The proposed potentiostat can perform general electrochemical analysis functions, including cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, amperometry, and potentiometry. In the experiment, we adopt a commercial screen printed electrode immersed in potassium ferricyanide solution to test the performance of the proposed potentiostat and compare the proposed potentiostat’s measured results with a commercial potentiostat’s (CH Instrument Model: CHI1221) under the same test condition. The experimental results show that the proposed potentiostat has the merits of good accuracy, low cost, low power consumption, and high portability.

摘要:In this paper, we design and implement a low-cost and standalone potentiostat for the signal processing of electrochemical biosensors, and further exert the vanillylmandelic acid biosensing to verify its performance. In the experiment, we adopt a personal digital assistant (PDA), rather than using a personal computer (PC), to set the experimental parameters to the potentiostat through Bluetooth wireless communication. The biosensor’s measurement is controlled by a mixed-signal microprocessor, and the measured data are stored in a memory card. The power supply of the standalone potentiostat is provided by a USB charger. When the experiment is finished, the data stored in memory card can be retrieved and analyzed by a computer. Our experimental results show that the proposed potentiostat has the merits of good accuracy, low cost, low power consumption, and high portability.

摘要:Changing demographics, the rise of personalized medicine and increased identification of biomarkers for diagnosis and management of chronic disease have increased the demand for portable bioanalytical instrumentation and point-of-care. The recent development of molecularly imprinted polymers enables production of low cost and highly stable sensing chips; however, the commercially available and full functional instruments employed for electrochemical analysis have shortcomings in actual homecare applications. In this work, integrated circuits (ICs) for monolithic implementation of voltammeter potentiostat with a large dynamic current range (5 nA to 1.2 mA) and short conversion time (10 ms) were fabricated in a 0.35 μm complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) process. The new instrumentation was tested with molecular imprinted sensors for 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid (3HAA) in urine. The sensor consisted of molecular imprinted of poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol)s (abbreviated as EVALs) for implementation in a flow injection analysis system. The EVAL containing 32 ethylene mol-% had the highest imprinting effectiveness for the target molecules. Fit-for-purpose figures of merit were achieved with a limit-of-detection (LOD) of 3.06 pg/mL. The measurements obtained in real undiluted urine samples fell within the reference concentration range of 50- 550 ng/mL.

摘要:In this paper, we design a voltammetry potentiostat chip with wide range current measurement for the signal processing of electrochemical biosensors. In this design, the current of biosensors will be detected and divided into four regions, and then be diminished in accordance with corresponding current scaling ratio. All the ranges of the biosensor’s current will be diminished to a proper current range (≤ 2.5 μA) and then be converted into frequency-modulated pulses by a sigma-delta modulator in a fixed conversion time. The aim of this design is to deal with the large dynamic current range of signal processing for different biosensors in applications. The measured results of proposed potentiostat can be digitized by a microprocessor without using a high resolution ADC. The proposed potentiostat is fabricated by 0.35 μm CMOS technology, and the chip layout core area is 0.31 mm2. The function of the proposed potentiostat has been tested and measured in our laboratory, and the measurement results show that the dynamic range of signal processing, from 1nA to 2mA, is 126 dB. The power consumption under normal operation is 10 mW.

摘要:In this paper, we develop potentiostatic biosensors and biological monitoring records in cloud computing for home care application. In home care application, the potentiostatic biosensors are used to examine some important biomarkers such as albumin, uric acid, glucose, urea, creatine and creatinine in urine, which are correlated with kidney function. The examined results of these biomarkers will be transmitted to the server in cloud by Wi-Fi wireless communication, and then will be translated into biological monitoring results and be stored in the biological monitoring records. The users can retrieve these records by means of a smart phone or a remote PC through internet at any time and any place to understand their health condition. Meanwhile, doctors can diagnose patients’ health conditions in long-term care according to the proposed biological monitoring record. The experimental results show that the proposed system has the merits of good accuracy, low cost, and long-term care capability.
