摘要A new design of broadband slot antenna with circular polarization is presented. The broadband characteristics are achieved using a coplanar-waveguide (CPW)-fed two-arm spiral slot configuration. The spiral slot antenna and the feeding structure are fabricated on the same plane of the substrate so that the circuit process and the position alignment could be simplified. The improvement of circular polarization for the antenna is obtained mainly by an arc slot surrounding the spiral slots. The turn number of the spiral slots and the geometrical dimensions of the arc slot are varied in order to derive the better performance of the circular polarization. The measured impedance bandwidth of a S11-10 dB ranges from 1.25 to 8 GHz and covers most of the commercial wireless communication systems, such as GPS, DCS, PCS, IMT-2000, WLAN and HiperLAN. The measured 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidth (ARBW) is 10.6 % with respect to 1.605 GHz.

名稱A Compact Wideband Leaky-Wave Antenna with Etched Slot Elements and Tapered Structure

摘要A compact wideband leaky-wave antenna (LWA) with etched slot elements and tapered structure is studied. The proposed antenna is composed of an asymmetric-fed multi-section tapered short leaky-wave antenna with two embedded slots and a ground plane with etched slot elements. Base on the concept of LWA, the asymmetric-fed is utilized to excite the first higher order mode. By etching slot elements on the ground plane, the current distribution of this antenna can be influenced to compact the width of conventional LWA. In order to achieve the impedance matching, this multi-section tapered short leaky-wave antenna is embedded with two rectangular slots. This technique not only improves the impedance matching but also suppresses the back lobe. According to the measured results, the impedance bandwidth achieves about 1.30 GHz for 7-dB return loss, which covers the range from 3.30 to 4.60 GHz, and the scanning angle of the measured main beam is about 36°, which covers the range from 17° to 53°. This short LWA is only about 1.14 λB0B at 3.4 GHz, and the back lobe can be suppressed by 7.5 dB at 4.3 GHz. Due to the etched slot elements on the ground plane, the frequency of the radiation angle is shifted to lower frequency by 750 MHz, which can compact the width of LWA by more than 20 %.

摘要A new design of broadband monopole antenna with circular polarization (CP) is shown. The broadband characteristics are achieved using a microstrip-fed rectangular dual-loop monopole configuration and an asymmetrical feeding structure. The improvement of CP for the antenna is obtained mainly by the separation between the monopole antenna and the ground plane. The measured result of the impedance-bandwidth is about 3.66 GHz from 0.98 to 4.64 GHz; the 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth is about 180 MHz at the lower band (1.5 GHz). The antenna is extremely low cost and does not require any truncation corner, reflector surface, or via connections, all of which increase the fabrication cost.

摘要In this letter, a wideband coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed open cross-slot antenna with both linear and circular polarizations has been designed. By etching a modified open cross-slot in the ground plane, two orthogonal electric fields with a quadrature phase difference excited a circularly polarized wave at 2.34 GHz. The characteristics of the moderate impedance bandwidth resulted from the merging of three resonant modes into a wide band. The measured impedance bandwidth of return loss dB ranged from 1.69 to 2.78 GHz.

摘要In this article, a new design for the open slot antenna with a high front-to-back gain ratio is proposed and presented. By utilizing a two-element array topology, a power combination is achieved and a unidirectional radiation pattern is derived. To suppress the backward radiating power, a pair of symmetrical notched slits with uniform width is etched such that the currents distributing along two longitudinal edges of the ground plane cannot flow backward. In addition, three arrays of eight-element metal strips are utilized as a power director to increase the forward power and improve the front-toback ratio of the antenna. From the measured results, the proposed antenna topology demonstrates a front-to-back (F/B) ratio of 22.3 dB and possesses superior end-fire radiating characteristics.

摘要In this article, a new design for the compact low-pass filter (LPF) with a wide rejection band is presented by utilizing the slottedground- plane (SGP) structure. A modified-p slot is etched in the ground plane to excite three different resonant modes. A wide rectangular stub, which overlaps the connection slots, connects to the microstrip transmission line. This technique significantly enhances the rejection characteristics. A reversed-C slot is embedded inside the modified-p slot to lower the initial resonant frequency of the LPF. In particular, two shorted quarterwavelength branch slots are used to generate two transmission zeros such that the high-frequency rejection performance can improve. An equivalent resistor, inductor, capacitor (RLC) circuit is proposed to model the introduced LPF and corresponding RLC parameters are extracted. A fabricated filter rejects the signals at the frequencies from 1.97 to 12.0 GHz with more that 20-dB suppression.

名稱A Wideband Stepped-Impedance Open-Slot Antenna with End-Fire Directional Radiation Characteristics

摘要In this paper, new techniques are proposed to increase the front-to-back ratio of the stepped-impedance (SI) open-slot antenna for operation from 1.67 GHz to 4.25 GHz, covering the required frequency bands of the wireless communications systems, such as DCS, PCS, IM-2000, and WLAN. By designing a stubprotruded feedline and adding two symmetrical stubs at the edge of a quarter-wavelength slot, additional capacitance is introduced to the resonator. Hence, the impedance-matching condition of the SI openslot antenna is not only effectively improved, but also the resonance frequency of the slot antenna is significantly shifted down and then an improvement in impedance bandwidth is achieved. In order to decrease the back radiation, two pairs of symmetrical open slots with uniform width are etched at the back of the blocking open slot such that the currents along the longitudinal edges of the ground plane cannot flow to the back direction. In addition, by embedding an array of seven slits beside the radiating slot, the back lobe at the upper frequency bands can be reduced. Two pairs of three-element metal strips are utilized as a power director to increase the forward power and enhance the front-to-back ratio of the SI open-slot antenna. Compared to conventional unidirectional radiation antennas, the proposed antenna demonstrates improved wideband unidirectional radiation characteristics and relatively smaller size.

摘要This work examines the resonant-mode analysis of the microstrip traveling antenna (or calling the leaky-wave antenna). Considering the traveling antenna as an open-end structure, the antenna embodiment can be analyzed by utilizing the cavity-mode analysis. In order to understand the resonant characteristics of the traveling antenna, we use two traditional traveling antennas with two different lengths. The corresponding relationship between the resonant modes for the short and long antennas is derived. The radiation mechanism of the antenna is also explained with aid of the equivalent magnetic current density. The antenna designers can predict the resonant modes of the traveling antenna without utilizing expensive EM simulation software.

摘要In this study, the resonant analysis and modeling of the microstrip-fed stepped-impedance (SI) slot antenna have beenare presented by utilizing the transmission-line and lumped-element circuit topologies. This study analyzed analyzes the SI- slot antenna and systematically summarized summarizes its frequency response characteristics, such as the resonance condition, spurious response, and equivalent circuit. Design formulas with respect to the impedance ratio of the SI slot antenna were analytically derived. The antenna designers can predict the resonant modes of the SI slot antenna without utilizing expensive EM- simulation software.

摘要In this work, a coplanar-waveguide (CPW)-fed monopole antenna for multiple wireless communication system integration is developed. A rectangular monopole antenna and a feeding structure are fabricated on the same plane of the substrate to simplify circuit processing and position alignment. Simply tuning one of the CPW ground-plane widths, which results in an asymmetrical ground plane structure, enhances the impedance bandwidth and excites the circular polarization at 1.57 GHz. To cover the operation bandwidth of the wireless local area network (WLAN) system, a parasitic inverted-L radiating strip is shorted to the ground plane. The measured impedance bandwidth of a S11-10 dB ranges from 1.37 to 2.82 GHz, and thus covers most commercial wireless communication systems, such as GPS, DCS, PCS, IMT-2000, WLAN, and LTE. The measured 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidth is about 3.8 % with respect to 1.56 GHz.

摘要A dual-band monopole antenna for UHF-band applications has been demonstrated in this work. The dual-band characteristics are achieved using several strip monopole radiators. In addition, a small planar inverted-F monopole antenna (PIFMA) is connected to the ground plane. The bandwidth improvement for the antenna is obtained mainly by modifying the geometrical configuration of the strip monopoles added at the antenna and the ground plane. The measured results of the impedance-bandwidth are about 44 MHz (458 to 502 MHz) and 118 MHz (701 to 819 MHz).

摘要The frequency response characteristics, such as resonance condition and spurious harmonic, of a mallet-like slotted-ground-plane resonator have been shown in this work. Unlike the conventional slotted-ground-plane resonator with a half wavelength, the length of this proposed structure is only quarter-wavelength long so that compactness can be achieved. The technique of size reduction for the resonator is furthermore presented by modifying the impedance ratio of the mallet-like slot segments. Owing to the semi-ground plane, decrease of the quality factor causes enhancement of the rejection bandwidth. We analytically derive design equations with respect to the impedance ratio of the mallet-like slot resonator and can predict resonant modes without utilizing EM simulation software. In addition, by utilizing the thru-reflect-line calibration technique and theoretical methods, parameter extraction of the equivalent circuit of the mallet-like open-slot resonator is presented.

名稱Bandwidth Enhancement Technique of the Meandered Monopole Antenna

摘要A small dual-band monopole antenna with coplanar waveguide (CPW) feeding structure is presented in this paper.The antenna is composed of ameandered monopole, an extended conductor tail, and an asymmetrical ground plane. Tuning geometrical structure of the ground plane excites an additional resonant frequency band and thus enhances the impedance bandwidth of the meandered monopole antenna. Unlike the conventional monopole antenna, the new resonant mode is excited by a slot trace of the CPW transmission line.The radiation performance of the slot mode is as similar as that of the monopole.The parametrical effect of the size of the one-side ground plane on impedance matching condition has been derived by the simulation. The measured impedance bandwidths,which are defined by the reflection coefficient of −6 dB, are 186MHz (863–1049MHz, 19.4%) at the lower resonant band and 1320MHz (1490–2810MHz, 61.3%) at the upper band. From the results of the reflection coefficients of the proposed monopole antenna, the operated bandwidths of the commercial wireless communication systems, such as GSM900, DCS, IMT-2000, UMTS,WLAN, LTE 2300, and LTE 2500, are covered for uses.

名稱A Low-Pass Filter Based on the Slotted-Ground-Plane Horn-Shaped Resonato

摘要Designs of a miniaturized low-pass filter (LPF) using the slotted-ground-plane resonator are introduced in this paper. The proposed filter consists of a horn-head slot in the ground plane, two modified arc-head resonators, and a parasitic patch connected at the microstrip line. The horn-head slot, which is a modified type of a horn-shaped slot, provides good band-stop characteristics. To enhance rejection performance, a pair of the modified arc-head slot is embedded inside the hornhead resonator to increase additional transmission zeros into frequency characteristics. Furthermore, a parasitically circular patch is added at the microstrip line for frequency reduction and rejection enhancement. The surface current distributions are presented to explain the resonance mechanism. For the proposed LPF, the measured rejection bandwidth over ¡20 dB is from 1.75 to 12.0 GHz.

摘要The design and performance of a dual-band circularly polarized monopole antenna for multisystem integration are shown in this paper. A triple-strip monopole structure, which is fed at the microstrip line, is designed and fabricated to excite several resonances. After optimization of the geometrical parameters of the antenna, the resonances are merged, and thus a wide impedance bandwidth is obtained. The measured impedance bandwidth of a S11 210 dB ranges from 1.43 to 3.29 GHz, and covers most of commercial wireless communication systems. A right-hand circularly polarized wave at 1.57 GHz for the global positioning system is not only excited, but a left-hand circularly polarized wave at 2.33 GHz for satellite digital audio radio service system is also generated. The 3-dB axial ratio bandwidths are about 70 MHz at the lower band (1.57 GHz) and 60 MHz at the upper band (2.33 GHz). Both of simulated and measured results are shown to validate the impedance and CP characteristics of the proposed monopole antenna.

摘要This paper presents a microstrip wideband antenna and its utilization in integration of multiple wireless communication systems. A simple fork-like strip antenna, fed by a coplanar-waveguide (CPW) transmission line, is designed to excite a right-hand circularly polarized wave at 1.57 GHz. A rectangular patch is added at the end of one prong to enhance the circular polarization performance. By modifying the geometry of the ground plane, a left-hand circularly polarized wave is excited at 2.33GHz, and the wideband frequency response is derived. To reduce the lower resonant frequency, a stub is added at the left side of the ground plane. The measured impedance bandwidth of reflection coefficients (S11) −10 dB ranges from 1.49 to 2.92 GHz, which satisfies the system bandwidths of most of commercial wireless communication systems. The 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidths are approximately 40MHz at the lower band (1.57 GHz) and 290 MHz at the upper band (2.33GHz).

摘要A design with broadband and circularly polarized radiation from an open-slot antenna has been successfully demonstrated in this work. The proposed antenna, which consists of an open slot and a patch-protruded feeding topology, provides a large bandwidth, which covers the operation bandwidth of a satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) service system. The open slot is formed by an L-shape conducted strip asymmetrically connected at the edge of the ground plane. After optimization, the final structure which measured 3 dB axial-ratio bandwidth for left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) is 2.47 GHz (76%) from 2.00 to 4.47 GHz; meanwhile, the measured impedance bandwidth of a reflection coefficient - 10 dB ranges from 1.22 to 5.97 GHz, a 4.75-GHz impedance bandwidth (133 %).
